Chicago potter inspired by mid-century forms and Chicago's architectural history.

Anne E. Terpstra is a Chicago potter who throws functional and decorative work for the home and garden. She’s always been drawn to mid-century modern design, and this is reflected in the clean lines of many of her forms. She also loves the contrast of glaze against clay body and explores this through a variety of taped lines that let the fired clay play against the surrounding glaze. Many of her designs are inspired by stained glass from Chicago’s own Prairie style, along with art deco and mid-century patterns.

These ceramic mugs have a flared, stable base, a wide handle, and hold a generous 20 ounces. A bright white celadon glaze on the top third of the mug breaks into a dramatic oil spot effect before tapering into the blue/green celadon at the base. It’s a true multitasker of a mug, ready to handle coffee or tea, along with soup, ice cream, or even a quick portion of instant oats!
