Chicago potter inspired by mid-century forms and Chicago's architectural history.

Anne E. Terpstra is a Chicago potter who throws functional and decorative work for the home and garden. She’s always been drawn to mid-century modern design, and this is reflected in the clean lines of many of her forms. She also loves the contrast of glaze against clay body and explores this through a variety of taped lines that let the fired clay play against the surrounding glaze. Many of her designs are inspired by stained glass from Chicago’s own Prairie style, along with art deco and mid-century patterns.

Christmas Ornament, bells

Christmas Ornament, bells

$45.00

These ceramic ornaments are bells thrown from either dark or buff stoneware. Even the clapper has been made on the wheel and glazed to match the body. (And yes, they do ring!) The lines on the bells are created through the use of a hand-applied tape design, which allows the clay body to provide both visual and textural contrast. The single snowflake bell was created through the use of vinyl resist, rather than a taped design.
