Chicago potter inspired by mid-century forms and Chicago's architectural history.
Anne E. Terpstra is a Chicago potter who throws functional and decorative work for the home and garden. She’s always been drawn to mid-century modern design, and this is reflected in the clean lines of many of her forms. She also loves the contrast of glaze against clay body and explores this through a variety of taped lines that let the fired clay play against the surrounding glaze. Many of her designs are inspired by stained glass from Chicago’s own Prairie style, along with art deco and mid-century patterns.

The copper glaze on this wheelthrown vase practically glows against the dark brown stoneware clay body. The clean midcentury lines on the form allow the glaze to take center stage, accentuating the slight curve at the waist of the piece.
