Chicago potter inspired by mid-century forms and Chicago's architectural history.

Anne E. Terpstra is a Chicago potter who throws functional and decorative work for the home and garden. She’s always been drawn to mid-century modern design, and this is reflected in the clean lines of many of her forms. She also loves the contrast of glaze against clay body and explores this through a variety of taped lines that let the fired clay play against the surrounding glaze. Many of her designs are inspired by stained glass from Chicago’s own Prairie style, along with art deco and mid-century patterns.

Ceramic Wall Clock - Blackcurrant Starburst

Ceramic clocks are a special find, especially when they are wheelthrown. This one hearkens back to clocks of the midcentury era but with a modern update. The crisp linework, inspired by starburst patterns, was applied by hand before glazing, and then peeled away before firing to feature the buff stoneware beneath. Surprisingly lightweight, the clock can hang from a single screw or hook.
