Chicago potter inspired by mid-century forms and Chicago's architectural history.

Anne E. Terpstra is a Chicago potter who throws functional and decorative work for the home and garden. She’s always been drawn to mid-century modern design, and this is reflected in the clean lines of many of her forms. She also loves the contrast of glaze against clay body and explores this through a variety of taped lines that let the fired clay play against the surrounding glaze. Many of her designs are inspired by stained glass from Chicago’s own Prairie style, along with art deco and mid-century patterns.

Lidded Jar - Bamboo

Lidded Jar - Bamboo

$83.00

This lidded jar is thrown on the wheel as an enclosed form, and only later during trimming is the lid separated from the body. This construction allows for the tight fit and clean line of the finished piece. The design on the lid is created by using tape resist, which, when peeled away, allows the dark stoneware clay body to contrast beautifully with the glaze.
