Chicago potter inspired by mid-century forms and Chicago's architectural history.

Anne E. Terpstra is a Chicago potter who throws functional and decorative work for the home and garden. She’s always been drawn to mid-century modern design, and this is reflected in the clean lines of many of her forms. She also loves the contrast of glaze against clay body and explores this through a variety of taped lines that let the fired clay play against the surrounding glaze. Many of her designs are inspired by stained glass from Chicago’s own Prairie style, along with art deco and mid-century patterns.

These dark stoneware mugs were individually thrown on the wheel before holiday elements were added for the kiln. The satin green mug features an art-deco style tree in outline, while the glossier red mug has three different ornaments hanging from the lip of the mug. Sturdy and holding a generous 16 ounces, each mug will add a midcentury holiday vibe to any gathering.
