Chicago potter inspired by mid-century forms and Chicago's architectural history.

Anne E. Terpstra is a Chicago potter who throws functional and decorative work for the home and garden. She’s always been drawn to mid-century modern design, and this is reflected in the clean lines of many of her forms. She also loves the contrast of glaze against clay body and explores this through a variety of taped lines that let the fired clay play against the surrounding glaze. Many of her designs are inspired by stained glass from Chicago’s own Prairie style, along with art deco and mid-century patterns.

Layered Planter

Layered Planter

from $45.00

Thrown on the wheel with a dark brown stoneware, these ceramic planters are dipped in first one glaze and then a second in angled layers, allowing them to create a third unique glaze where they overlap. The richness of the clay acts a rich base for the soft texture of the glazes.

  • These planters do have a drainage hole.

  • Planters can be used indoors or outside, but if living in an area where temperatures fall below freezing in the winter, it’s a good idea to bring planters indoors to prevent cracking.
