Chicago potter inspired by mid-century forms and Chicago's architectural history.

Anne E. Terpstra is a Chicago potter who throws functional and decorative work for the home and garden. She’s always been drawn to mid-century modern design, and this is reflected in the clean lines of many of her forms. She also loves the contrast of glaze against clay body and explores this through a variety of taped lines that let the fired clay play against the surrounding glaze. Many of her designs are inspired by stained glass from Chicago’s own Prairie style, along with art deco and mid-century patterns.

Thrown on the wheel with a dark brown stoneware, these ceramic planters were also carved on the wheel, the horizontal bands cut into the sides while they spun. The dark brown of the clay acts a rich base for the soft texture of the glazes. All the planters have a drainage hole and are appropriate for indoor or outdoor use.
